General information for contacts

The SCONUL Access Steering Group determines the policy and operating principles of the scheme and the administrators work behind the scenes to ensure consistency of service and a wide understanding of the principles of the scheme, but without your input at local level, SCONUL Access could not succeed.

SCONUL Access contacts are crucial to the successful running of the scheme. You are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of SCONUL Access within your institution, communicating with the scheme administrators and other contacts, disseminating information about the scheme and training your staff in the working of the scheme. Your work makes a difference to thousands of researchers and students all over the UK and Ireland. This section of the website provides the tools to help you with this task. Please check the What's new section below for the latest developments.

What's new?

As a result of feedback received from the breakout groups at the Annual meeting for contacts in June 2009, we have created three new pages in the contacts' section of the website. The first covers Standard headings for emails to the closed list, where the email covers a regular topic. The second hosts the results of surveys undertaken by contacts and the adminstrators, to make the results readily available to all. This can be found under Good practice on the menu on the left of this page. Finally we have created a page which offers guidance to host libraries about the information needed by SCONUL Access users in advance of their visit to you. Experience has shown that users find it very helpful, if this information can be provided on library external readers pages, under SCONUL Access.
